Ingredients:

  • 3-4 Peaches, peeled & sliced
  • 1⁄4 cup Brown Sugar
  • 5 tablespoons Butter
  • 2 teaspoons Vanilla
  • 1 loaf Challah Bread
  • 3 Eggs
  • 1⁄4 cup Milk
  • Cinnamon
  • Whipped Cream

Step-by-Step Guide:

Bring a pot of water to a boil. Blanch the peeled peach slices in the boiling water for 35-40 seconds. Remove the peaches and immediately transfer them to a bowl of ice water to stop the cooking process. Drain the peaches and set aside.

In a saucepan over medium heat, melt 3 tablespoons of butter. Add half of the vanilla extract, cinnamon, and brown sugar. Stir until the sugar is dissolved and the mixture is well combined. Add the sliced peaches and cook until they are soft and the sauce is caramelized. Remove from heat and set aside.

In a shallow dish, whisk together eggs, milk, and the remaining vanilla extract. Heat a skillet over low heat and add 2 tablespoons of butter. Dip slices of challah bread into the egg mixture, coating both sides. Place the dipped bread slices on the skillet and cook until golden brown on both sides. Sprinkle cinnamon on each side of the bread while cooking.

Place the cooked French toast on a serving plate. Spoon the caramelized peach mixture over the French toast. Add a dollop of whipped cream on top. Dust with powdered sugar for extra sweetness.

Expert Tips and Tricks:

  • Use fresh peaches for a burst of flavor.
  • Let the Challah bread soak in the egg mixture briefly to avoid sogginess.
  • Adjust the caramelization to your liking for the perfect sweetness.

Variations:

  1. Add a handful of toasted nuts for crunch.
  2. Infuse the egg mixture with a hint of almond extract.
  3. Incorporate a layer of cream cheese between the bread slices.
  4. Top with a drizzle of honey or maple syrup for extra sweetness.
  5. Sprinkle shredded coconut for a tropical twist.
  6. Serve with a side of vanilla ice cream for a decadent dessert.

What to Serve With:

  1. Freshly brewed coffee or herbal tea.
  2. Crispy bacon or sausage links for a savory touch.
  3. Greek yogurt topped with granola and berries.
  4. A refreshing fruit salad with mint.
  5. Maple-glazed ham for a hearty brunch.
  6. Scrambled eggs with chives and feta.
  7. Avocado slices drizzled with balsamic glaze.
  8. A side of hash browns or crispy roasted potatoes.
  9. Smoked salmon with cream cheese on bagels.
