Ingredients
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 medium onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 packet taco seasoning
  • 1 can (15 oz) chili beans, undrained
  • 1 can (10 oz) diced tomatoes with green chilies, undrained
  • 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
  • 3 cups Fritos corn chips
  • Sour cream (optional, for serving)
  • Sliced green onions (optional, for garnish)
  • Jalapeño slices (optional, for extra heat)
Instructions
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).

  2. In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef until browned. Drain excess fat.

  3. Add the chopped onions to the skillet and sauté until they become translucent. Add minced garlic and cook for an additional 1-2 minutes.

  4. Sprinkle the taco seasoning over the beef mixture and stir well to combine. Let it cook for a couple of minutes to allow the flavors to meld.

  5. Pour in the chili beans (undrained) and diced tomatoes with green chilies (undrained). Stir the mixture thoroughly and let it simmer for about 5-7 minutes, allowing it to thicken slightly.

  6. In a large baking dish, spread a layer of Fritos chips. Top with a generous portion of the beef and bean mixture. Sprinkle shredded cheddar cheese over the top.

  7. Repeat the layers – Fritos, beef mixture, and cheese – until you've used all the ingredients. 

  8. Place the baking dish in the preheated oven and bake for about 15-20 minutes or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.

  9. Remove from the oven and let it cool for a few minutes. Serve the Frito Pie warm, optionally garnished with dollops of sour cream, sliced green onions, and jalapeño slices for an extra kick.
