Ingredients

  • 1 lb lean ground beef
  • 1/2 yellow onion
  • 2-3 clove Garlic
  • 2 tsp Italian seasoning
  • salt & pepper To Taste
  • 24 oz marinara sauce
  • 18-20 oz refrigerated tortellini
  • 1 and 1/2 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 2 tbsp Parmesan cheese

Instructions

  • Preheat your grill to medium-high heat. Make sure it's clean and ready for grilling.

  • In a skillet over medium heat, cook the lean ground beef until browned. Add chopped onions, minced garlic, Italian seasoning, kosher salt, and black pepper. Cook until the onions are soft and translucent.
  • Pour the marinara sauce into the beef mixture. Stir well and let it simmer for about 10 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld together. Adjust salt and pepper according to taste.
  • While the sauce is simmering, cook the refrigerated tortellini according to the package instructions. Drain and set aside.
  • Mix the cooked tortellini into the marinara and beef mixture. Ensure all the tortellini is coated evenly with the sauce.
  • Transfer the tortellini mixture to a grill-safe pan or foil tray. Place it on the preheated grill. Close the lid and let it grill for about 10-15 minutes or until you get a smoky grilled flavor. Make sure to stir occasionally to prevent sticking.
  • Sprinkle shredded mozzarella and grated Parmesan cheese over the grilled tortellini. Close the grill lid and let the cheese melt and become gooey.
  • Once the cheese is melted and bubbly, remove the pan from the grill. Serve the smoky grilled baked tortellini hot, garnished with additional Parmesan if desired.
