- 2 lb russet potatoes peeled & cut
- ½ cup milk warmed
- 4 tbsp butter
- ¼ cup sour cream optional
- Salt and black pepper to taste
Cook potatoes in salted water until fork tender, about 15–18 minutes. Drain completely.
Mash with butter first while still hot.
Slowly pour in warm milk and sour cream, mashing gently until fluffy.
