Ingredients

For the Pizza Dough:

  • 2 1/4 tsp (1 packet) active dry yeast
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • 1 cup warm water (110°F/43°C)
  • 2 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tbsp olive oil

For the Pizza Sauce:

  • 1 can (15 oz) crushed tomatoes
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp dried oregano
  • 1 tsp dried basil
  • Salt and black pepper to taste

For the Toppings:

  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1/2 cup cooked and crumbled sausage
  • 1/2 cup sliced pepperoni
  • 1/2 cup sliced ham
  • 1/4 cup sliced bacon, cooked
  • 1/4 cup sliced black olives (optional)
  • Fresh basil leaves for garnish

Instructions

Making the Pizza Dough:

  • In a small bowl, combine the active dry yeast, sugar, and warm water. Let it sit for 5-10 minutes until it becomes frothy. In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour and salt. Make a well in the center and pour in the yeast mixture and olive oil. Mix the ingredients until a dough forms. Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5-7 minutes until it becomes smooth and elastic. Place the dough in a lightly oiled bowl, cover it with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for 1-2 hours or until it doubles in size.

Preparing the Pizza Sauce:

  • In a saucepan, combine the crushed tomatoes, minced garlic, oregano, basil, salt, and black pepper. Simmer the sauce over low heat for about 15-20 minutes, stirring occasionally. Adjust the seasoning to taste. Remove the sauce from heat and let it cool.

Assembling and Baking the Pizza:

  • Preheat your oven to 475°F (245°C). If you have a pizza stone, place it in the oven during preheating. Punch down the risen pizza dough and roll it out on a floured surface to your desired thickness. Transfer the rolled-out dough to a pizza peel or an inverted baking sheet dusted with cornmeal. Spread a generous layer of the homemade pizza sauce over the dough, leaving a small border around the edges. Sprinkle the shredded mozzarella and cheddar cheese evenly over the sauce. Distribute the cooked and crumbled sausage, sliced pepperoni, sliced ham, and sliced bacon on top of the cheese. If you like, add sliced black olives for an extra touch. Carefully transfer the pizza to the preheated oven or pizza stone and bake for 12-15 minutes or until the crust is golden and the cheese is bubbly and slightly browned. Once out of the oven, garnish with fresh basil leaves for a burst of flavor. Allow the pizza to cool for a few minutes before slicing and serving.
