Honey Chipotle Chicken Wings (Air Fryer, Oven, or Grill)

Ingredients

  • For the Chicken Wings:
  • 2 lbs chicken wings split into flats and drumettes
  • 2 tbsp vegetable or canola oil
  • 2 tsp kosher salt
  • 2 tsp onion powder
  • 2 tsp garlic powder
  • 2 tsp paprika
  • 1 tsp ground black pepper
  • 1 tbsp baking powder optional, for crispier skin
  • For the Honey Chipotle Sauce:
  • 1 tbsp vegetable or canola oil
  • 1 tbsp garlic minced
  • 1 cup honey
  • cup chipotles in adobo sauce chopped
  • 2 tbsp adobo sauce from the can
  • 3 tbsp fresh lime juice

Instructions

  • Pat wings dry with paper towels. In a large bowl, toss with oil, salt, onion powder, garlic powder, paprika, black pepper, and baking powder (if using) until well coated.
  • Air Fryer Method:
  • Preheat air fryer to 400°F.
  • Arrange wings in a single layer.
  • Cook for 20–25 minutes, flipping halfway, until crispy and internal temperature reaches 165°F.
  • Oven Method:
  • Preheat oven to 425°F.
  • Line a baking sheet with foil and top with a wire rack. Grease rack.
  • Arrange wings in a single layer.
  • Bake for 45–50 minutes, flipping halfway, until crispy and cooked through.
  • Grill Method:
  • Preheat grill to medium-high (400°F). Oil grates.
  • Grill wings for 20–25 minutes, turning every 5–6 minutes, until charred in spots and internal temp reaches 165°F.
  • While wings cook, heat 1 tbsp oil in a skillet over medium heat. Add garlic and sauté for 1 minute. Stir in honey, chopped chipotles, adobo sauce, and lime juice. Simmer for 3–4 minutes, until slightly thickened.
  • Place cooked wings in a large bowl. Pour warm sauce over wings and toss to coat. Serve hot.
