Equipment

  • 1 Small Bowl
  • 1 Large Skillet

Ingredients

  • 4 salmon fillets (about 6 ounces each, skin on or off)
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 2 tbsp low-sodium soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice
  • 1 tbsp Dijon mustard
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1/2 tsp smoked paprika
  • Salt and black pepper, to taste
  • 2 tbsp olive oil (or butter)
  • Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)
  • Lemon wedges (for serving)

Instructions

  • Pat the salmon fillets dry with paper towels. Season both sides with salt, black pepper, and smoked paprika.
  • In a small bowl, whisk together the honey, soy sauce, lemon juice, Dijon mustard, and minced garlic until smooth. Set aside.
  • Heat olive oil (or butter) in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Place the salmon in the skillet, skin-side down if applicable. Cook for 4–5 minutes, until the bottom is golden and releases easily from the pan.
  • Flip the salmon and reduce the heat to medium. Pour the honey glaze over the fillets, coating them evenly. Cook for another 3–4 minutes, spooning the glaze over the salmon as it caramelizes.
  • Cook until the salmon reaches an internal temperature of 125°F for medium-rare or up to 140°F for more well-done fish.
  • Remove the salmon from the skillet and let rest for a few minutes. Garnish with chopped parsley and serve with fresh lemon wedges.

Notes

  • Don’t skip drying the salmon: Removing excess moisture helps create a better sear and prevents sticking.
  • Watch the glaze carefully: Honey can caramelize quickly, so keep an eye on the heat to avoid burning.
  • Serving idea: Pair with roasted vegetables, rice, or a light salad for a complete meal.
