Ingredients

  • 3 pounds chicken wings split into flats and drums
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon AB’s SPG Seasoning
  • 1 tablespoon AB’s Sweet Heat Rub or Hot BBQ Rub
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder optional
  • 1 cup BBQ sauce
  • 1/3 cup honey
  • 2 tablespoons hot sauce
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes optional
  • 1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper optional

Instructions

  • Pat the chicken wings completely dry with paper towels. Place them in a large bowl and drizzle with olive oil.
  • Season the wings with AB’s SPG Seasoning, AB’s Sweet Heat Rub or Hot BBQ Rub, smoked paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, black pepper, and baking powder if using. Toss until the wings are evenly coated.
  • Preheat the oven to 425°F. Place the wings on a wire rack set over a baking sheet and bake for 40–45 minutes, flipping halfway through, until golden brown, crispy, and cooked through.
  • While the wings cook, add BBQ sauce, honey, hot sauce, butter, apple cider vinegar, brown sugar, crushed red pepper flakes, and cayenne pepper to a saucepan. Warm over medium-low heat, stirring until the butter melts and the sauce is smooth.
  • Let the sauce simmer for 3–5 minutes, then remove it from the heat.
  • Transfer the cooked wings to a large bowl and pour the hot honey BBQ sauce over the top. Toss until every wing is coated.
  • Return the sauced wings to the oven, air fryer, or grill for 3–5 minutes so the sauce sets and gets sticky.
  • Serve hot with ranch, blue cheese, celery sticks, fries, or your favorite BBQ sides.

Notes

  • Use AB’s SPG Seasoning as the base layer and Sweet Heat Rub or Hot BBQ Rub for smoky BBQ flavor.
  • For milder wings, reduce the hot sauce and skip the cayenne.
  • For hotter wings, add more cayenne, red pepper flakes, or hot sauce.
  • Store leftovers in the refrigerator for up to 3 days and reheat in the air fryer or oven.
