Nashville Hot Chicken Wings

Cost: $

Ingredients

For the Chicken Wings:

  • 2 lb Chicken Wings
  • 1 cup Buttermilk
  • 1 cup All-Purpose Flour
  • 1 tsp Salt
  • 1 tsp Black Pepper
  • Vegetable oil, for frying

For the Hot Chicken Sauce:

  • 1/2 cup Butter
  • 1/4 cup Cayenne Pepper
  • 1 tbsp Brown Sugar
  • 1 tsp Paprika
  • 1 tsp Garlic Powder
  • 1 tsp Onion Powder
  • 1/2 tsp Chili Powder
  • Salt, to taste

Instructions

  • In a large bowl, combine the chicken wings and buttermilk. Allow them to marinate for at least 1 hour, or preferably overnight, in the refrigerator.
  • Fill a deep fryer or a large, deep skillet with vegetable oil, leaving enough space at the top to prevent overflow. Heat the oil to 375°F (190°C).
  • In a shallow dish, combine the flour, salt, and black pepper. Dredge each marinated chicken wing in the flour mixture, ensuring they are well-coated.
  • Carefully place the coated wings in the hot oil, a few at a time, avoiding overcrowding. Fry until golden brown and crispy, about 10-12 minutes. Use a slotted spoon to remove the wings and place them on a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.
  • In a small saucepan over medium heat, melt the butter. Add cayenne pepper, brown sugar, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, and chili powder. Stir until the sugar dissolves and the spices are well combined. Season with salt to taste.
  • In a large bowl, toss the fried chicken wings in the prepared hot chicken sauce until evenly coated. For an extra kick, you can brush additional sauce over the wings.
  • Arrange the Nashville Hot Chicken Wings on a serving platter. Enjoy the crispy, spicy goodness!
