Ingredients
- 1/4 cup soy sauce (Bragg liquid aminos)
- 1 1/2 cups beef broth
- 2 tbsp brown sugar, maple syrup, or honey
- 3 tbsp cornstarch
- 5 garlic cloves, minced
- 1 inch ginger, minced
- 1 1/2 lbs sirloin, ribeye, tri-tip, tenderloin, flank, or shoulder steak, thinly sliced
- 1 large white onion, thinly sliced
- 2 large bell peppers, sliced
- 6 oz mushrooms, sliced
- 1 lb broccoli, chopped
- 2 tbsp oil for frying
- 1 tbsp sesame seeds for garnish
Instructions
Step 1: Soy Sauce Symphony
In a bowl, blend the soy sauce, beef broth, chosen sweetener, and cornstarch. This concoction forms the foundation of the stir-fry, so take a moment to appreciate the richness of the soy sauce and the depth of the beef broth.
Step 2: Aromatics Awakening
Heat your wok or skillet with 2 tbsp of oil. Infuse the oil with the minced garlic and ginger until the kitchen is filled with their irresistible aroma. This is the moment when you know something extraordinary is about to happen.
Step 3: Beef Brilliance
Introduce the thinly sliced beef to the aromatic embrace of the wok. Sear each slice until it achieves a golden brown perfection, absorbing the garlic and ginger essence. Once cooked, set the beef aside – a tantalizing teaser for what’s to come.
Step 4: Vegetable Waltz
In the same wok, add a bit more oil if needed, and toss in the sliced onions, bell peppers, mushrooms, and broccoli. Witness the vibrant dance of colors as the vegetables sizzle and tenderize. Stir-fry until they reach the perfect balance of tender-crisp.
Step 5: Saucy Affair
Pour the soy sauce mixture over the vegetable ensemble. The magic happens as the sauce thickens, enveloping each ingredient in a glossy coat of flavorful indulgence. Stir continuously to ensure an even distribution of this liquid gold.
Step 6: The Grand Reunion
Bring back the seared beef into the wok. Let it reacquaint itself with the vegetable medley, creating a harmonious blend of textures and tastes. Toss everything together until every slice of beef and every vegetable is a canvas painted with the savory sauce.
Step 7: Final Flourish
Once the stir-fry reaches a symphony of sizzling perfection, remove it from the heat. Serve this culinary masterpiece over steamed rice or noodles, and for the grand finale, sprinkle sesame seeds over the top. The nutty crunch of the seeds adds a final touch of elegance.
