These Baked Garlic Parmesan Wings bring big flavor with minimal effort—perfect for busy weeknights, game day, or whenever you want wings without frying. You get crispy edges, juicy centers, and that garlicky-parmesan bite that keeps you reaching for “just one more.”

What makes this version better is the order: you season and coat the wings first (cornstarch for crisp + parmesan to cling), then bake on a rack so hot air hits every side, and finish with a quick broil for that final crunch. Round out the spread with Crispy Homemade Steak Fries, Southern Coleslaw, and Million Dollar Deviled Eggs for a full, crowd-ready plate.

🍽️ A Quick Look at the Recipe

Recipe Name: Baked Garlic Parmesan Wings

⏱️ Ready In: 55 minutes

👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 Serves:

🥣 Key Ingredients: chicken wings, garlic, cornstarch, parmesan, lemon juice

📖 Dietary Info: Not gluten-free (possible cross-contact depending on ingredients), contains dairy (parmesan, blue cheese, sour cream, mayo), contains eggs (mayo)

🔥 Why You’ll Love It: Crispy baked wings with a bold garlic-parmesan coating plus homemade blue cheese dressing for dipping.

Key Ingredients

Chicken wings (party pack: flats + drumettes)

This cut bakes up juicy and crisp when you keep them in a single layer on a rack.

Cornstarch

The clutch ingredient for baked wings—helps pull off moisture and creates that light, crispy finish in the oven.

Garlic + lemon juice

Garlic brings that bold savory punch; lemon tightens everything up with a clean, bright edge.

Parmesan cheese

Adds salty, nutty flavor and helps form that craveable crust—plus extra on top makes them pop.

Instructions

Step 1: Prep the Base

Preheat the oven to 400°F. Line a baking sheet with foil or parchment and set a wire rack on top.

Step 2: Build the Flavor

In a large bowl, whisk together olive oil, lemon juice, crushed garlic, black pepper, red pepper flakes, and salt until slightly thick. Add wings and toss until fully coated.

Step 3: Cook and Control

Sprinkle cornstarch over the wings and toss again until coated. Add parmesan gradually, tossing to cover all wings. Arrange wings skin-side down in a single layer on the rack (make sure they aren’t touching). Bake 40–45 minutes, flipping halfway.

Step 4: Finish and Serve

Broil on high 2–4 minutes for extra crisp (watch closely). Sprinkle with more parmesan and chopped parsley or chives. Serve immediately with the homemade blue cheese dressing.

Tips & Tricks

  • Flavor-boosting tip: If you have time, let the wings marinate for about 30 minutes before baking for deeper flavor.
  • Common mistake to avoid: Skipping the rack can trap steam and make wings soggy—use the rack for airflow.
  • Prep shortcut: Crush garlic ahead and keep it refrigerated so you can toss and bake fast.
  • Doneness/crispness adjustment: Broil at the end, but don’t walk away—this is where “perfect” can turn to “burnt” quick.

Variations:

Want to switch things up? Here are some variations to keep your wing game fresh

  1. Spicy Garlic Parmesan Wings: Add more red pepper flakes or a dash of hot sauce to the marinade for a spicier kick.
  2. Lemon Pepper Parmesan Wings: Swap out the red pepper flakes for lemon pepper seasoning for a zesty twist.
  3. Herb-Infused Parmesan Wings: Add fresh rosemary or thyme to the marinade for an herby flavor profile.
  4. BBQ Garlic Parmesan Wings: Toss the wings in a mix of BBQ sauce and Parmesan cheese before baking for a sweet and tangy variation.
  5. Honey Garlic Parmesan Wings: Drizzle honey over the wings after baking for a sweet and savory combination.
  6. Buffalo Garlic Parmesan Wings: Mix some Buffalo sauce into the marinade for a spicy, tangy wing.
  7. Asian-Inspired Wings: Add soy sauce and ginger to the marinade for a delicious Asian twist.
  8. Cajun Garlic Parmesan Wings: Sprinkle Cajun seasoning into the mix for a Southern-style kick.
  9. Garlic Parmesan Boneless Wings: Swap out traditional wings for boneless chicken bites for a different take on the classic.
  10. Air Fryer Garlic Parmesan Wings: Use an air fryer instead of the oven for an even crispier finish.

  6. Garlic Bread: Keep the garlic theme going with some crispy, buttery garlic bread.
  7. Corn on the Cob: A sweet and juicy side that’s perfect for summer gatherings.
  8. French Fries: You can’t go wrong with a side of crispy, golden fries.
  9. Mashed Potatoes: Creamy mashed potatoes are a comforting and filling option.
  10. Pasta Salad: A light and flavorful pasta salad makes for a great side dish.

Notes

  • Cooking tip: Keep wings separated on the rack so they crisp evenly.
  • Storage: Refrigerate leftovers in an airtight container up to 3 days; freeze up to 2 months.
  • Reheating: Reheat in the oven at 350°F until warmed through to keep them crisp.
  • Avoid Microwaving: While microwaving is quick, it can make the wings soggy. The oven is your best bet for keeping them crispy.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I make this ahead of time?

Yes. You can marinate the wings a day ahead and bake when ready. You can also bake ahead, then reheat at 350°F and broil briefly to bring back crispness.

How do I store leftovers?

Store wings airtight in the fridge up to 3 days, or freeze up to 2 months.

Can I substitute parmesan cheese?

Yes—asiago or finely grated Romano will keep a similar salty, sharp flavor and coating style (Romano is saltier, so taste first).

What’s the best way to reheat this?

Oven at 350°F until hot (best for texture). Broil the last minute if you want the outside extra crisp.

Can I make this in the air fryer?

You can, but this specific recipe is written for the oven + rack + broil finish. If you want a similar vibe in a different format, try AB’s other wing flavors for rotation like These Hot Honey Peach Chicken Wings.
